The Hale Wind Project will be a 478-megawatt wind facility built near Plainview.

Construction on the Hale wind farm is slated to begin June 2018 and will create close to 300 jobs.

Once the facility is operational in 2019, approximately 17 to 22 jobs will be required to operate the facility.

The Hale Wind Project is part of a larger plan to add 1,230 megawatts of wind energy to serve Xcel Energy customers in Texas and New Mexico.

Once up and running, the plants are seen to generate enough power for about 360,000 households.
