AUSTIN – A redevelopment project that will double the amount of affordable senior housing at the Rebekah Baines Johnson Center is set to break ground early May 2018.
The 17.8-acre site sits north of Lady Bird Lake at 21 Waller St., just east of I-35.
Totaling $79 million, a five-story building will be added first and then the existing tower will be remodeled.
The project will be carried out in phases over the next five years and will bring 500 affordable senior housing apartments to the site.
