Nearly 80,000 lbs of trash cleaned from Texas beaches

​​AUSTIN – Chilly temps and scattered showers didn’t get in the way of the 32nd Annual Spring Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup last Saturday.

Just over 4,900 volunteers showed up at 25 locations along the Texas coast to remove 79,355 pounds of trash. According to the Texas General Land Office, which sponsored the event, cleanup efforts covered 108 beach miles.

Honors for most trash collected went to Kleberg and Nueces Counties, racking up a total of 23,142 lbs.
