HOUSTON – Houston ranks as the No. 2 market in the country for new home starts, following Dallas–Fort Worth, a Metrostudy Housing 4Q 2017 report shows.
Houston builders started 27,675 homes in the past 12 months, a 7.5 percent increase from a year earlier starting in 2017.
In the first quarter, the number of new lots that were delivered significantly undershot the number of lots absorbed through new home starts.
Metrostudy expects 2018 to end with a more modern annual increase in starts of three to four percent.
