Will God-zillatron II stomp at UT?
AUSTIN – The University of Texas has issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) to construction companies that can renovate and expand Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
The stadium currently has a capacity of more than 100,000 people and is in line for a $140 million boost.
The expansion will focus on the stadium’s south end, the site of the current “Godzillatron” screen.
The massive scoreboard cost the university $8 million when it was constructed in 2006.
Another Godzillatron is not known at this time.
More suites and seats are expected to be added, and the RFQ calls for additional kitchen space, club rooms, offices for coaches, restrooms and more.
Responses to the RFQ are due May 7, 2018.
