​​​​​KATY – Katy Independent School District (Katy ISD) has broken ground on its $33.7 million expansion of the Gerald D. Young Agricultural Sciences Center.

When the expansion is finished on the 125-acre site at 5825 Katy Hockley Cut Off Rd., the center will include:
  • 132,937-sf outdoor arena;
  • 70,287-sf show arena and pavilion;
  • 8,250 sf of barns;
  • 5,304-sf project center; and
  • eco‐pond area, parking, and roadways.

Over 77,500 students are currently enrolled at Katy ISD, according to Katy ISD's Public Dashboard​.

Katy ISD is the third-largest west Houston employer as of February 2018, according to the Houston Business Journal's Largest West Houston Employers research
