SAN ANTONIO – A thriving local economy and a slate of new flights spurred double digit growth in passenger traffic to San Antonio International Airport (SAT) in February 2018, according to city aviation officials.

More than 667,000 travelers passed through SAT last month, according to the airport’s monthly statistics report

Traffic was up 10.5 percent from the roughly 604,000 passengers who embarked from or landed at the airport in February 2017.

Increased airline capacity and new routes—including a daily nonstop route to Philadelphia from American Airlines and several routes from Frontier Airlines—promoted a 10 percent spike in domestic traffic to the airport in February.

Officials recorded 644,000 domestic travelers passing through the airport in February 2018, up from nearly 586,000 in February 2017.

International travel to SAT surged by nearly 25 percent to more than 23,000 passengers, compared with about 19,000 in February 2017.
