ABILENE – U.S. salad grower BrightFarms has announced plans to build a 195,000-sf sustainable greenhouse farm to meet growing consumer demand for local produce.

The new facility will deliver baby greens and herbs to local customers within 24 hours of harvest.

The new facility will produce a range of packaged salad greens including spring mix, spinach, baby kale, romaine, arugula, and several new products that are under development.

The green house will be able to provide locally grown salad greens and herbs to supermarkets in the region in early 2019.
