Top 10 fastest growing counties, 2016-2017COMAL COUNTY – Comal County is seeing such a significant influx of new residents it’s been ranked the second-fastest-growing county in the nation, a jump from seventh place in 2017.

That’s according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s latest population estimates released March 2018.

Comal County’s population grew by 5.1 percent—nearly 6,900 people—from July 2016 to July 2017, to 141,009 residents, estimates show.

The county was outranked only by Falls Church, Virginia.

The rankings are based on an assessment of population percentage growth in counties that had 10,000 or more residents in both 2016 and 2017.

Hays County, named the fastest-growing county in the nation last year, placed fourth in the latest rankings.

Its population grew 5 percent to more than 214,000 residents.

Kendall County was ranked fifth nationally, with its population growing 4.9 percent to more than 44,000 residents in that same one-year period.
