GEORGETOWN – Georgetown plans to open two new fire stations in 2019 to relieve overburden on existing stations.

Construction on Fire Station No. 6, located at 6700 Williams Dr., is expected to begin summer 2018.

The station will cost $5 million to build and will include garage bays, living quarters, a private treatment room and a community room to be used as a meeting space.

Fire Station No. 7 is expected to be about 12,000 sf near the intersection of Hwy. 29 and Inner Loop.

Both fire stations are expected to open mid to late 2019.

New facilities bring a need for additional personnel, and Fire Chief John Sullivan said finding qualified applicants who have the skills and temperament necessary to fit with the department can be difficult to do on a large scale.
