DALLAS – North Texas sold more houses last year than anyplace in the country, with over 134,000 homes changing hands.

The metro accounts for almost a third of Texas’ total preowned home purchases with more than 102,000 properties. Builders sold almost 32,000 new homes.

"Of course, that means home prices are up," said Frank Nothaft, chief economist with CoreLogic.

CoreLogic estimates that local home prices in January 2018 were up 6.7 percent from January 2017.
