SEALY – Sika Corp. has opened the first phase of its 40-acre plant at the intersection of SH 36 and I-10.

The new 98,000-sf manufacturing plant will produce concrete, mortars, and grouts, and will eventually expand onto an additional 38 acres to become 400,000 sf.

The plant created 25 jobs but will eventually employ more than 100 people, and the company is recruiting employees from the west Houston area and the surrounding Sealy area.

The City of Sealy offered a ten-year tax abatement, a roughly $1 million investment to make 40 acres shovel-ready, and installing sanitation and natural gas line on Sika’s property and more than 500 acres surrounding the plant.
