South Plains College planning to relocate its Lubbock campus
LUBBOCK – South Plains College (SPC) officials announced plans to move their current campus in the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center (ATC) to a renovated former automobile dealership about five miles south.
Outside groups including the Helen Jones Foundation, the CH Foundation and the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance are contributing $9.9 million to the project.
That funding will go toward the renovation of the existing structure and to buy equipment for the new, 45,000-sf South Plains College Lubbock Center, according to Kelvin Sharp, president of the college.
SPC currently partners with the Lubbock Independent School District to provide career and technology classes for high school students at the Bryan Martin ATC, which is owned by the school district.
The new Lubbock campus of SPC should be completed in early 2017.
