West Texas Collection to new ‘bunkhouse’ at ASU
SAN ANGELO – Angelo State University’s (ASU) West Texas Collection is getting a new home with the construction of a new campus museum.
The approximately $14.2 million, 31,000-sf facility will be at 1825 S. Johnson St. in the center of the ASU campus.
The West Texas Collection is for those with a special interest in the Concho Valley area; the Civil War; Pancho Villa and the Border Revolution; ranching; sheep and goat industry, to name a few.
The facility will also support ASU student art programs with classrooms, specialized labs for graphic design, sculpture and ceramics, and student gallery space, along with faculty and staff offices and support spaces.
A firm date for the museum groundbreaking is yet to be determined; the next step in the process is to award a design contract.
