The Fairmont flair: largest hotel opens

​​​​​​AUSTIN – The Fairmont Austin, the city’s largest hotel, is now open—just in time for South by Southwest.

Located at 101 Red River St., the $370 million hotel structure intersects Cesar Chavez St. just north of the Rainey Street Historic District.

The total square footage is 1,368,416 (equivalent to 3.8 Texas State Capitols), according to Austin Monthly October 2017 issue.

The hotel has 1,048 rooms and nearly 140,000 sf of meeting space.

The hotel, which will employ more than 900 people, delivers much needed capacity in a constrained market for rooms and event space.

The Fairmont Austin also boasts five restaurants and bars, from a steakhouse/grill to a cocktail bar on the seventh floor, plus a full-service spa.​
