HOUSTON – The city’s medical office building (MOB) market is strong and getting stronger, said Eric Johnson, Transwestern’s national director of healthcare.
Speaking recently to Urban Land Institute Houston, Johnson said the local MOB vacancy rate is about 11 percent, but that should drop below 10 percent as newly built medical structures are delivered and absorbed.
Some 400,000 sf of MOB space is currenly under construction. Houston already has a supply of 31 million sf.
Investment activity is strong, Johnson said. Last week, Heitman announced the acquisition of 17 MOB buildings, including seven in Texas.
