Rendering of Main Street ImprovementsDENISION, GRAYSON COUNTY – The Denison City Council voted to move forward with plans to issue $1 million in debt for design work on the first phase of proposed improvements to downtown and Main Street.

This first phase of improvements will extend from the 100 block of East Main across Austin Ave. to the 200 block of West Main for a total of about three blocks.

The area was chosen as many of the buildings are vacant and there is room for redevelopment that will hopefully be encouraged through public improvements.

To finance construction and planning for these projects, the city set up a tax increment reinvestment zone to collect future property tax revenues.
