McKINNEY – The City of McKinney and the McKinney National Airport have acquired about 190 acres of land at the southeast side of the city-based airport.
The 190-acre tract is being acquired for $22.3 million in cash.
McKinney’s city council amended its annual budget and used its capital improvement program to fund the deal.
This acquisition fits into McKinney’s long-term growth strategy to expand the 775-acre airport property by up to 500 acres in coming years to provide for the airport’s expected growth.
The airport is estimated to generate more than $44 million each year in economic impacts to the city.
