​​​​SAN ANTONIO – The city council has voted to sell ten vacant acres near the corner of E. Commerce St. and Spriggsdale Blvd. to the George Gervin Youth Center.

A $63 million mixed-use project, called Echo East, will sit on the land and an adjacent 9.1 acres owned by the youth center. It will include 500 residential units and 25,000 sf of retail.

Echo East would be one of the largest East Side construction projects since the AT&T Center opened in 2002.

The council voted to sell the land for $430,000. It awarded a $450,000 economic development grant to pay for the land and closing costs.​
