( Karen Warren / Houston Chronicle ) less​TOMBALL – A local family that operated an elite horse farm in northwest Harris County until a few years ago has sold the property to an affiliate of Johnson Development Corp.

The 370-acre property is just north of the Grand Pkwy. and east of Mueschke Rd.

The developer plans to build a 1,000 home site community and turn an existing 7,000-sf building on the site into a recreation center.

Home prices are expected to be in the $200,000 to $400,000 range, with the first homes expected to deliver by fall 2019.

The recreation center will be built in the first phase of construction, which includes 250 lots.

East of US 290 toward Brenham, the massive Daikin air conditioning plant—one of the country's largest industrial facilities—is expected to ultimately put about 5,000 people to work in the Houston area through direct employment and the arrival of related businesses.​
