KATY – Many of these commercial or residential projects were announced or in progress last year.
Here’s the update:
- A new 37,000-sf, 900-seat Alamo Drafthouse movie theater is under construction at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch. The project will finish in 2018.
- As of January 4, 2018, all corner spaces at the future Katy Asian Town were rented and major construction was complete. The 16-acre shopping center, located at 23119 Colonial Pkwy., will feature Asian restaurants and retail.
- Construction is on schedule for Marcel Plaza, a 10.7-acre shopping center on Westheimer Pkwy. between Roesner Rd. and Saddlespur Ln.
It encompasses more than 80,000 sf of retail. Tenants include 9Round Kickboxing, a dance studio, and more. The project will finish April or May of 2018, and is about 90 percent complete.
- University of Houston intends to break ground on its new Katy campus in spring 2018.
The 46-acre project will open in the fall 2019 semester in the northeast corner of I-10 and the Grand Parkway. The campus will cost about $32 million and host about 2,000 students.
