AT&T is investing in its local cellular network, which is now expanding more rapidly after state legislation was passed in 2017 that reduced the cost for adding network nodes, or small cell antennas, in the public right of way.

For the San Antonio network, AT&T is investing in new network nodes across the city.

That denser cellular data network lays the foundation for future 5G internet—something several companies in San Antonio are also working on.
