Hobby fastest growing international airport in U.S.
HOUSTON – Since Hobby Airport first offered international flight in 2015, its international passenger rate has skyrocketed.
In 2015, 76,400 international passengers went through Hobby Airport.
The next year, that number jumped to 404,600 passengers.
This 430 percent year-over-year growth makes it the No. 1 fastest growing airport for international passengers in the U.S., according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
Houston’s other international airport, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, by far has more international passengers than Hobby, with more than 5 million.
The airport with the most enplaned international passengers in 2016 was New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport with 15.6 million passengers.
