TEMPLE - The long-awaited Temple Buc-ee’s should open in April, according to the convenience store chain’s corporate offices. Construction of the store has been underway since July 2014.
The Temple City Council approved development of the store in April 2013. The 60,000-sf travel center will be at the southeast corner of north Loop 363 and I-35. It will be the Texas chain’s 31st store, and the first located north of Austin.
The 17-acre facility will cost $16 million to construct. To help offset the costs, the Temple Economic Development Corp. provided Buc-ee’s with a one-time grant of $500,000.
Arch “Beaver” Aplin, founder and CEO, said in April 2013 that the business would provide 150 jobs and the starting salary for most employees will be $11.50.
