​​​AUSTIN – The Austin Independent School District (AISD) board of trustees approved several land sales totaling nearly $53 million on Monday. 

AISD will sell:

  • the 128,000-sf Carruth Administration Center at 1111 W. Sixth St. to Schlosser Development Co. for $36.5 million;​

  • the Baker Center at 3908 Avenue B. to Alamo Drafthouse Cinema LLC for $10.6 million;

  • the former Millett Opera House at 110 E. Ninth St. to the Foundation for the Preservation of the Historic Millett Opera House for $3 million;

  • eight acres at the southeast corner of Tannehill Ln. and Jackie Robinson St. to the city for $1.96 million; and 

  • 1.2 acres at Doris and Hathaway Drives to the city for $920,000. 

The district will also spend $28.4 million on the Southfield Office Building, a nine-story tower at the northwest corner of I-35 and Ben White Blvd. Somera Road Inc. recently purchased the 142,000-sf building.
