On the city's north side, more than 1,600 workers in a Continental AG plant produce vehicle electronics for at least a quarter of all vehicles in the nation.

The facility is one of many plants that make the rural community a manufacturing hub.

Caterpillar operates an engine factory in the city with 1,800 employees.

Alamo Group, which manufactures agricultural and infrastructure maintenance equipment across the world, is headquartered in Seguin and has a major plant on the east side of the city near its headquarters.

Nearly 27 percent of the workforce was employed by industry in 2016, according to city data.

Seguin lies along Interstate 10 and is south of Interstate 35, giving easy access to Houston, Austin, San Antonio and the Gulf Coast.

A rail line cuts through the middle of town, and more lie in the area around the city.
