FORT HOOD – Service members transitioning out of the military will now have another opportunity to find a job outside of the military.
IBM is partnering with Fort Hood Soldier for Life Transition Assistance Program, SFL-TAP, to help give service members certifications in cybersecurity.
This new certification partnership with IBM will expand a nationwide training initiative that certifies veterans in the use of IBM software.
Veterans will go through a week of intensive training on software used by law enforcement and national security agencies and also receive employment assistance.
U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, R-Austin, says this is another way to help support veterans who have served this country honorably.
“We want to give these certificates out so they can get in the job market and be greeted, by frankly, an economy and a group of employers around this country that are looking to hire veterans,” Williams said.
The program is designed to prepare veterans with in-demand technology skills for future careers.
