$198M to Robert E. Lee, John Tyler High Schools
TYLER – Construction has officially started on Tyler Independent School District’s $198 million high school renovation project.
The district passed its largest ever bond package May 2017 to fund the total renovation of John Tyler and Robert E. Lee high schools.
The district hopes to complete renovations 4Q 2019, with an expected 2020 move-in date.
While John Tyler will be built in place, with most of the existing skeleton used as a basis for the school, the entire Lee campus will shift south with the face of the school pointed toward Shiloh Rd.
Blueprints are expected to be delivered within the next few months and construction will begin in earnest on both campuses in the spring.
