DALLAS – Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth ranked second and fifth, respectively, on this year’s Emerging Trends in Real Estate report by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Urban Land Institute.

DFW was first in 2015 and second in 2016. Last year, Austin ranked first.

Seattle took the top spot this year. Salt Lake City ranked third, and Raleigh/Durham, N.C., ranked fourth.

Houston plunged to 60th in the ranking, down from 30th in 2016. It was the top pick in 2014 before the energy price drop cooled its real estate market.

The Emerging Trends report has been published for 39 years and polls real estate professionals from across the country to identify the best places to buy property and build.
