​​Rendering of sports performance center at Texas Tech​LUBBOCK – ​Texas Tech has opened its new 156,000-sf Sports Performance Center on Oct. 20, 2017.

The new center will allow athletes to practice on world class equipment without worry of inclement weather.

The Sports Performance Center is a $48 million multi-purpose facility that will be used by 17 intercollegiate sports. 

It is one of the first facilities of its kind in the country, according to a Tech Athletics news release.

The facility houses the Petersen Family Indoor Football Practice Facility, an indoor track and field competition arena, a strength and conditioning space, the Becky and Kelly Joy Nutrition Center, the PlainsCapital Bank Sports Medicine Center as well as seating for 1,500 fans, according to the release.​
