The facility includes a 12,000-sf simulation lab where students will be able to perform medical procedures on lifelike mannequins.
The nursing school is part of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso.
Administrators expect the student population will increase to 300 students in the next five years. The facility is able to accommodate 600.
Jeanne Novotny, founding dean and professor of the nursing school, said there are plans to expand the number of faculty and students as well as continuing partnerships with the community and launching new degree programs.
