SHERMAN – Local silicon-epitaxy manufacturer GlobiTech will be adding 12 new jobs over the next two years as part of a nearly $10 million capital investment in its Sherman plant.
The Sherman Economic Development Corp. (SEDCO) board of directors recently approved a $487,500 incentive for the local manufacturer that will be delivered in two payments of $243,750.
The $487,500 incentive is 5 percent of the company’s planned $9.75 million total capital investment in its Sherman facility.
Globitech has had multiple expansions at its Sherman facility, which is the largest plant within the Sino-American Silicon corporation.
SEDCO completed its last incentive agreement with GlobiTech earlier in 2017 after the company put the finishing touches on an $18 million upgrade to its Sherman plant.
With the 20 positions added in 2015 and 2016, the silicon-epitaxy manufacturer currently employs around 195, which puts it as the 15th largest employer in Sherman on the SEDCO website.
