COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M University is set to break ground on its new $42.5 million music activities center located on the south side of campus.
Named the John D. White ’70—Robert L. Walker ’58 Music Activities Center, the new facilities will be located near the corner of George Bush Dr. and Coke St.
The 70,000-sf center will be the new home to more than 1,300 Aggie musicians who participate in 14 groups, including the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band.
The new center will replace the E.V. Adams Band Hall built in 1970.
It will feature a 100-year artificial turf practice field for the Aggie Band, soundproof practice rooms, new rehearsal halls and locker space for the storage of instruments.
Completion on the project is expected by May 2019.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 8, 2017.
