San Antonio International Airport has experienced a major boost in airline flights and seats.SAN ANTONIO – Efforts to improve access to and from the nation’s seventh largest city via the friendly skies is paying off.

In spring 2016, the city hired Brian Pratte as the air services administrator, and since then, San Antonio International has seen its daily inventory of available seats for departing flights increase by more than 2,500.

“That’s the equivalent of filling the Grand Hyatt, both downtown Marriotts and the Hilton on a daily basis,” Pratte said.

There is plenty at stake as the city seeks to become more economically engaged nationally and internationally—increased access makes the city more competitive economic with other domestic and international markets.

“Over the course of the past year, we have had countless meetings with airlines, ensuring that we keep San Antonio top of mind when they consider their list of next best opportunities,” Pratte said.
