EL PASO – Cielo Vista Mall will add three new tenants before the end of the August 2017, bucking a national trend of declining malls—a growing online shopping trend has hurt retail shopping centers across the country.

Simon Property Group, the company that owns Cielo Vista Mall, recently announced that retailers ThinkGeek, Ooh La La and Adore Cosmetics are moving into the Eastside shopping center.

Tim Fullerton, a professor of economics at UTEP, said the mall has fared well because it has kept up with changing trends and because surrounding businesses make the location a desirable destination for customers and highly sought out Mexican shoppers.

Mexican shoppers pump millions of dollars into the El Paso economy every year, and most recent data indicated Mexican nationals spent $46 million in El Paso County in 2012.
