list of top six US counties projected to have the highest economic growthTEXAS COUNTIES – Denton, Collin, and Montgomery counties are projected to be the nation’s fastest growing economies over the next five years, according to an Oxford Economics forecast.

In addition, Fort Bend county made the list of the top six U.S. counties.

Over the next five years, America’s fastest growing cities will be in “sprawling, suburban metro areas,” described as places like Austin.

That’s because Americans are leaving high-cost, densely populated cities in search of cheaper areas with strong job growth.

Denton and Collin counties ranked third and tenth, respectively, in net migration and immigration from 2009 through 2013.

In that time, Denton County gained 23,000 people, while Collin County netted 8,800 new residents.

*Gross domestic product is the best way to measure a country’s economy. GDP is the total value of everything produced by all the people and companies in the country.
