​​​The dilapidated Petroleum Building in downtown Longview, Texas.LONGVIEW – The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs has awarded about $1.1 million in tax credits a year for ten years to Saigebrook Development of Austin, to convert the Petroleum Building into 49 apartment units and build a 74-unit complex on Clinic Dr.

The developer plans to begin construction by first quarter 2018 and take 12 to 14 months to complete the projects.

The apartment project in the Petroleum Building, at 202 E. Whaley St., will be named Alton Plaza and will cost $7.8 million.

The Clinic Dr. development near Longview Regional will be called Edgewood Place and will cost $13.1 million.
