PECOS COUNTY – Austin-based MMEX purchased 126 acres for the development of a 15-acre, 10,000-barrel-a-day crude distillation unit.
The $50 million facility—the first phase of a $450 million refinery—will produce nontransportation-grade diesel primarily for sale in the local market for drilling frac fluids, along with naptha and heavy fuel oil to be sold to other refiners.
MMEX will buy 350 additional acres adjacent to the newly purchased land.
