CORPUS CHRISTI – Construction is set to begin on the Bond 2014 Ayers Street Improvement Project.

The city is advising drivers in the area to expect delays, and if possible, to seek alternate routes.

The City of Corpus Christi Traffic Engineering office says that work is expected to start on July 20, 2017, and should last until July 2018.

The following streets will be affected by the project:

Santa Fe St.: Northbound Santa Fe St. traffic will shift onto the southbound lanes and will have one lane in each direction through the intersection.

Ayers St.: Eastbound Ayers St. traffic approaching Santa Fe St. will be reduced to one lane of traffic. Eastbound Ayers St. will be closed to traffic from Santa Fe St. to Ocean Dr.

Second Street: Access to Second St. will be through Ocean Dr. Motorists exiting Second St. must turn left onto Ayers St. to Santa Fe St.

Third Street: Third St. traffic approaching Ayers St will be reduced to one lane and through traffic and left turns will be allowed onto Ayers St.

The city reminds drivers to use caution when driving through work zones.
