Glut of ethylene draws U.K. interest
MORGAN’S POINT, HARRIS COUNTY – Houston’s Enterprise Products Partners said it signed a letter of intent with the United Kingdom’s Navigator Gas to build an ethylene export terminal.
The proposed terminal could export 1.8 billion pounds of refrigerated ethylene a year, compared with the roughly 400,000 pounds the U.S. exported all of last year, according to petrochemical analyst Matthew Blair of Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co.
The export terminal would tie into Enterprise’s expansion of its salt dome storage facilities near the Ship Channel.
Enterprise will have about 600 million pounds of storage capacity.
In April 2017, Enterprise said it will build a 571-mile pipeline from the Permian Basin to the Houston area to transport natural gas liquids.
