DALLAS-FORT WORTH – DFW topped the country in net office leasing for second quarter 2017, thanks to a growing economy that fueled demand for new office space.
Net office leasing in the DFW area totaled 1.4 million sf in the just-completed quarter, according to a new report from Cushman & Wakefield Inc.
North Texas surpassed Charlotte, Seattle and Raleigh/Durham as the country’s top net office leasing market.
Through the first six months of 2017, expanding and relocating businesses have net leased almost three million sf of DFW office space.
That’s about 15 percent less than last year’s first-half numbers, according to Cushman & Wakefield.
North Texas at midyear was one of the country’s top office construction markets with more than 6 million sf of construction. DFW was second only to New York City in total office building.
