MIDLAND - Hotel Fuel, a 144-room, 12-floor boutique hotel in development at a vacant office building on 301 W. Texas Ave., is one of several ongoing downtown revitalization projects.

The transformation of the former Western United Life Building into Hotel Fuel will begin in three weeks, according to hotel developer Sagar Kumar.

Some of the amenities planned for Hotel Fuel include a restaurant and coffeehouse on the first floor, conference rooms on the second floor and kitchenettes in every one- or two-bedroom unit.

For the past three months, developer Texas 301 Ventures LLC has spent nearly $800,000 on cleaning out the building, which included asbestos removal, Kumar said.
