IRVING – A $39 million ‘signature bridge,’ connecting the site to the DART rail, is closer to getting underway.

Rendering of Signature BridgeThe signature bridge, which is composed of five bridges that merge into one bridge, will span SH 114, giving the 78-acre, city-owned development site direct access to a proposed Dallas Area Rapid Transit rail station.
The new bridge will replace the famed Texas Plaza Dr. Bridge, which was torn down in 2010 to make way for the expansion of Hwy. 114 and Loop 12 by the Texas Department of Transportation.
The bridge will also give the former Texas Stadium site access to a yet-to-be developed DART rail station, tentatively called the Loop 12 Station, and give pedestrians the ability to safely cross Hwy. 114.
The top of the bridge will have two pedestrian walkways with canopies constructed of aluminum with translucent fiberglass panels.
The bridge will also have one large steel truss hanging above the bridge with supporting cables connecting to the canopies and top of the pylons.
Construction firm Houston-based Webber LLC expects to begin construction the first week of September 2017. Completion is slated for late spring 2019.
