SAN ANTONIO – To combat a shortage of skilled construction workers in the market, Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is hoping technology can help it do more with less.A San Antonio based company is using technology to streamline construction projects to simply process and save money.

The San Antonio-based commercial construction company has begun using drones, 3-D modeling, iPads and apps to streamline all aspects of its construction projects and the possibility for simplifying processes and saving money are potentially endless.

Instead of using traditional aerial photography services, Bartlett Cocke has begun using drones to obtain overhead photos on a cheaper, ad hoc basis.

Drones enable companies to perform inspections that previously required workers to use ladders or scaffolding and to create 3-D maps of projects by compiling multiple photos together.

The company has also begun using iPads and apps, such as PlanGrid, to streamline the planning phase.

Bartlett Cocke is saving money by implementing such technology and that it has paid for itself, although the company did not provide specific numbers.
