SAN ANTONIO – The development of the Texas A&M University at San Antonio campus continues as construction crews began laying the foundation for the new STEM education building slated to open in 2018.
Texas A&M University is building a fresh $46 million facility on the South Side of the city.
The 136,000-sf facility will have 25 classrooms and a dozen labs to accommodate studies in biology, chemistry, geology and physics, as well as microscopy, genetics, ecology physiology and other environmental degrees.
The facility will also house A&M’s Center for Experiential Learning and Community Engagement.
As the university continues to grow there may be some commercial spinoff activity—similar to the retail and multifamily boom near the University of Texas at San Antonio campus on the North Side.
