San Antonio Construction at an all time high
SAN ANTONIO – First quarter 2017 saw a record amount of new office construction in the Alamo City, further proof that the city’s economic outlook is strong.
Of the 1.2 million sf of new office space under construction in San Antonio, 738,000 sf began during 1Q 2017, according to the latest office market report from Transwestern.
Another 2.8 million sf of office space has been proposed, with over one million sf in the Central Business District, Midtown and North Central submarkets slated to break ground this year.
Major projects include the Frost Tower, Port San Antonio’s Project Tech, and Farinon Business Park’s buildings two and three.
Some of 1Q 2017 most notable leasing deals include Wells Fargo & Co. leasing 45,935 sf in the Far West district, Lone Star Capital Bank and Capital Title securing 28,239 sf in Far North Central and Scaleworks Associates adding 22,000 sf downtown.
The report also highlighted other positives for the San Antonio-New Braunfels as they saw its seventh straight year of job growth, with 3,200 jobs additional since the end of 2016.
