$9M makeover for Alamodome’s 25th Anniversary
SAN ANTONIO – The Alamodome has been approved to increase the cost of their renovations and improvements by $9 million.
The city will enter into a new agreement with organizers of the Alamo Bowl, which will contribute $6 million toward additional Alamodome improvements
There has also been an extension to the Alamo Bowl’s lease for the dome and for office space inside the venue by 11 more years with a new expiration date in 2030.
In addition, the city is contributing $3 million more for the renovation and expansion project, which now has a price tag of approximately $60 million.
The expanded budget will allow for more stadium upgrades, including four new 30 feet by 60 feet video walls, and the budget will cover the installation new Wi-Fi system that can accommodate 65,000 fans.
The timing for Alamo Bowl officials is ideal as organizers prepare to celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary.
