$9M makeover for Alamodome’s 25th Anniversary

​SAN ANTONIO – The Alamodome has been approved to increase the cost of their renovations and improvements by $9 million.

The city will enter into a new agreement with organizers of the Alamo Bowl, which will contribute $6 million toward additional Alamodome improvements​

There has also been an extension to the Alamo Bowl’s lease for the dome and for office space inside the venue by 11 more years with a new expiration date in 2030.

In addition, the city is contributing $3 million more for the renovation and expansion project, which now has a price tag of approximately $60 million.

The expanded budget will allow for more stadium upgrades, including four new 30 feet by 60 feet video walls, and the budget will cover the installation new Wi-Fi system that can accommodate 65,000 fans.

The timing for Alamo Bowl officials is ideal as organizers prepare to celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary.
