​​​WACO – Dallas-based DBG Investments has secured a permit to build an eight-story Marriott Springhill Suites on I-35.

The future development will include a three-story parking garage at 115 S. Jack Kultgen Expy.—a site currently occupied by Executive Inn and Suites.

The hotel will feature 133 suites and carry an estimated cost of $17.4 million, according to the permit. 

Increased demand for hotel rooms is part of the “Magnolia effect,” referring to the popularity of Magnolia Market at the Silos, Sixth St. at Webster Ave., which attracts an average of 22,000 visitors a week, many from outside Texas.​
