DALLAS – Dallas had the third-largest home price gain nationally in March. Area home prices were up 8.6 percent from a year ago, according to Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller's latest home price index.

Only Seattle and Portland had higher year-over-year gains.

The local increase was well ahead of the nationwide home price increase of 5.8 percent from March 2016 levels.

Dallas prices are at an all-time high in the Case-Shiller Index. They're almost 40 percent ahead of where they were a decade ago.

North Texas home sales volumes are slightly higher this year than in the first four months of 2016.
