side view of the The Great Southwest building​HOUSTON – The Great Southwest building, built in 1927 in downtown Houston, is being redeveloped into a hotel.

The 148,000-sf building, located at 1314 Texas Ave., is two blocks east of Hines’ new 609 Main building and two blocks west of Minute Maid Park.

Choice Hotels International bought the property in 2016 as part of its plan to open ten Cambria hotels in Texas.​
